A home’s exterior is its first impression, and for half of every day that impression is made in the dark. Exterior architectural lighting transforms a façade after sundown — emphasizing stone and brick texture, defining rooflines and columns, and making entries feel safe and welcoming. We design and install exterior lighting that elevates curb appeal and extends the architecture into the night.
Texas weather is hard on outdoor fixtures. Heat, UV, driving storms, and humidity destroy cheap hardware fast. We specify and install marine- and wet-rated, corrosion-resistant fixtures and weatherproof connections so the system still looks and performs like new years later.
Façade grazing and wall washing
The most dramatic exterior lighting effect is grazing — mounting fixtures close to a textured surface so light rakes across stone or brick and throws every joint and shadow into relief. On smooth surfaces we wash instead, laying down an even field of light. Knowing which to use, and at what distance and beam angle, is the difference between a façade that glows and one that looks spotty.
We plan these effects to the material and the architecture, conceal fixtures and conduit wherever possible, and aim each one at night so the result is even, intentional, and free of hot spots and scallops where they aren’t wanted.
Soffit, eave, and downlighting
Soffit-mounted downlights deliver soft, even light to entries, walkways, and outdoor living areas while keeping the source hidden above the line of sight. Done well, they make a covered porch or a back patio feel like an outdoor room. Done poorly, they create a runway of glaring dots. We space and shield them carefully and keep color temperature consistent with the rest of the home.
We also handle roofline and architectural accent lighting — picking out columns, gables, and structural features that define the home’s silhouette against the night sky.
Entry, address, and security lighting
Entry lighting has to do three jobs at once: welcome guests, make the address visible, and provide security without feeling like a floodlit parking lot. We balance decorative entry fixtures with discreet functional light so steps are safe and faces are visible, and we integrate motion and dusk-to-dawn controls where they make sense.
All exterior lighting is installed with proper wet-location wiring practice, GFCI protection where required, and weatherproof junctions so the system is safe and durable for the long haul.
Our process
Night walk & design
We assess the façade and grounds after dark, identify the features worth lighting, and plan effects to the materials.
Weatherproof install
We install wet-rated fixtures with concealed wiring and proper outdoor junctions engineered for Texas heat and storms.
Aim & control
We aim every fixture at night, set photocell and timer controls, and confirm the look from the street and the drive.
Frequently asked questions
Will exterior lighting hold up to Texas summers and storms?
When it’s specified correctly, yes. We use wet-rated, UV- and corrosion-resistant fixtures with weatherproof connections — not the disposable hardware sold at big-box stores — so the system survives heat, hail, and humidity.
Can you light just the façade, or the whole property?
Either. Some clients want a dramatic façade only; others want a coordinated scheme covering façade, entry, soffits, and grounds. We scope to your goals and budget.
Do you handle the controls so lights come on automatically?
Yes. We install photocell (dusk-to-dawn), astronomical timer, and motion controls so the exterior lighting runs itself on the schedule you want.
